<I>  Oh! snatch'd away in beauty's bloom
On thee shall press no ponderous tomb;
But on thy turf shall roses rear
Their leaves, the earliest of the year;
And the wild cypress wave in tender gloom:
<II>  And oft by you blue gushing stream
Shall Sorrow lean her drooping head,
And feed deep thought with many a dream,
And lingering pause and lightly tread;
Fond wretch! as if her step distrub'd the dead!
   
<III>   Away! we know that tears are vain,
That death nor heeds nor hears distress:
Will this unteach us to complain?
Or make one mourner weep the less?
And thou - who tell'st me to forget,

오, 그 아름다움 한창 피어날 때 저버린 그대
잠든 그대 위엔 묘석일랑 놓지 못하게 하리라.
그대를 덮은 잔디 위엔 오직 장미를 심어
봄이면 새싹 트게 하고
야생 실백편나무 수심어려 휘청거리게 하리라.
때로는 또 저기 푸르게 흐르는 시냇가에
슬픔의 여신 찾아와 고개 숙이며
갖가지 꿈으로 깊은 생각에 잠기게 하고
혹은 머뭇거리고 혹은 사뿐히 걸음 옮기게 할지니
상냥한, 가엾은 그대여!
혹시나 그 발걸음이
고이 잠든 그대를 깨울까 하여이니라.
